DT Inspiration 35 # Celebrating Womenhood

Hello Quillers,

Welcome to my blog yet again. This month's challenge theme on IQCG is #35 - Celebrating Womanhood.

"The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears,
the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes,
because that is the doorway to her heart,
the place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows.
The beauty of a woman with time only grows."

I am taking opportunity of this month's theme to draw attention to one of the symbols of womanhood and a deadly disease which plagues women everywhere on this Earth. "Breasts- the one that marks the rise of a young girl to womanhood, the one which is fundamental to our collective understanding of female sexuality, the one which nurtures the new generation with their nectar". Breasts are one of the basics of our thinking of female anatomy.

But this very basic body part which distinguishes us females from the other half of the population is also target of second largest cancer issues in women. I am referring to Breast Cancer. It scars a woman physically, emotionally, mentally and financially.

For this month's challenge theme, I have quilled a winged PINK RIBBON, symbol for breast cancer awareness. I have made this in honor of the breast cancer survivors. Those amazing women who fought their battle with this deathly disease, conquered their demons and came out winning survivors with scars to remind them, and everyone else, of their battle. I dedicate this creation to my Buaji, an amazing woman of grit and a winning breast-cancer survivor!
Month of March also witnesses celebration of Women's Day! I would ask all the women reading this post (and the men for the women in their lives) to go and get a regular check-up for breast cancer symptoms. you know prevention is always better than cure and it's better to nip the problem in the bud. Woman may also do monthly breast self-exam for symptoms easily. check out various website which will tell you how to do it.  Take care of yourself and enjoy womanhood!

The challenge is open to all. Come let's celebrate womanhood through quilling. Create anything which corresponds to our theme and has quilling in it. Do check out the inspirations for you from my fellow design team members here. You will find other details regarding the challenge on this page.

Cheers!
