IQCG # 38 : DT Inspiration

Dear Quillers,

This month it is all about  textures and shine. So IQCG Challenge # 38 - Mixed Media. Create a mixed media project with essential part as quilling and an optional twist to add something shiny like glitter, sequins, pearl mist and so on!
For this challenge I have tried my hands on canvas board for the first time and I absolutely loved it. For the bling twist for the challenge, I took it a notch up by painting the background itself with acrylic pearl colours (silver, pearl blue and peach pearl) and then used pearl 3D liner for the embossed stencil effect.

With some excellent suggestions for my friends, I have coloured the center embellishment with silver acrylic paint too! Pearls on butterflies and the rhinestones in the flowers are adding to the shine quotient too! And of course, I have crimped quilled flowers and lovely vortex coils in this piece!

A closer look at the shiny background

It is time for you to show us what you come with working on this theme with a shiny twist. Don't forget to check challenge rules before submitting your entry here. Check your creation in the challenge for some lovely prizes for a winner and top creation. Please make sure you are NOT submitting  entry made prior to the challenge announcement.

Looking forward to see your creativity. Happy quilling!

Cheers!

IQCG DT Inspiration # 36 - Rainbow Colours

Hello Quillers,

It is the summer season with sweltering weather all around. So this month's theme is something which can perk up the mood with a beautiful view of array of rainbow colours! Theme for challenge # 36 at IQGC this month is:

In this month of May, we also celebrate Mother's Day on 14th. So for this month's theme I thought of making something as a tribute to all the mothers out there. It does not matter if you are mother of your own children, of others' children which I meant as a teacher (teachers are just like mothers at school) or even if you are a mother of your pets. It doesn't matter whether you are married mother or unmarried, whether you are a single mother or you have your partner with you. It is all about the bond between you and your child(ren). So here is my creation.

A mom who fills a child's life with colours of happiness or some may even interpret it as when a baby is born and makes a woman a mom, it fills the life of the woman with rainbow colours.

It's time for you to join us at IQCG to participate in this month's challenge. Create anything according to the theme with any media and add quilling to your project. For ex: you may colour the background of your project with rainbow colours and add quilling elements to it.

Please make sure you follow the guidelines/challenge rules. One winner and best topper will be awarded from our sponsors!

DT Inspiration 35 # Celebrating Womenhood

Hello Quillers,

Welcome to my blog yet again. This month's challenge theme on IQCG is #35 - Celebrating Womanhood.

"The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears,
the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes,
because that is the doorway to her heart,
the place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows.
The beauty of a woman with time only grows."

I am taking opportunity of this month's theme to draw attention to one of the symbols of womanhood and a deadly disease which plagues women everywhere on this Earth. "Breasts- the one that marks the rise of a young girl to womanhood, the one which is fundamental to our collective understanding of female sexuality, the one which nurtures the new generation with their nectar". Breasts are one of the basics of our thinking of female anatomy.

But this very basic body part which distinguishes us females from the other half of the population is also target of second largest cancer issues in women. I am referring to Breast Cancer. It scars a woman physically, emotionally, mentally and financially.

For this month's challenge theme, I have quilled a winged PINK RIBBON, symbol for breast cancer awareness. I have made this in honor of the breast cancer survivors. Those amazing women who fought their battle with this deathly disease, conquered their demons and came out winning survivors with scars to remind them, and everyone else, of their battle. I dedicate this creation to my Buaji, an amazing woman of grit and a winning breast-cancer survivor!
Month of March also witnesses celebration of Women's Day! I would ask all the women reading this post (and the men for the women in their lives) to go and get a regular check-up for breast cancer symptoms. you know prevention is always better than cure and it's better to nip the problem in the bud. Woman may also do monthly breast self-exam for symptoms easily. check out various website which will tell you how to do it.  Take care of yourself and enjoy womanhood!

The challenge is open to all. Come let's celebrate womanhood through quilling. Create anything which corresponds to our theme and has quilling in it. Do check out the inspirations for you from my fellow design team members here. You will find other details regarding the challenge on this page.

Cheers!
