IQCG DT Inspiration # 46

Hello Quillers,

Here is another post for the DT inspiration for month of April. And this month's colour palette is as below.

For this month's theme, I decided to do something for the first time which I have been meaning to do for a long, long time. It  is Spiral Quilling. I saw it for the 1st time on some blog and fell in love with it instantly.  Got to know Ritu Gera is the the artist who made that artwork which I saw and I just checked out her entire blog. Do go to he page (click here) to see some of the most amazing things she does with paper.

Oh, coming back to this month's theme, I chose both shades of green and yellow from the challenge palette and combined it with neutral colour black to make an abstract artwork. I chose a canvas board of size 4" x 6". I drew some random overlapping circles. I colored the rest of the BG with black acrylic paint to have a contrast which will bring the focus on the light coloured circles. Here are some pictures.

Please do enter the challenge and get a chance to win lovely prizes. For rules and guidelines regarding the challenge and to enter your new creation (related to the current theme) please visit the IQCG page, click here. Please make sure you are NOT submitting  entry made prior to the challenge announcement.

Also check out fabulous inspirational work by my fellow DT members on the IQCG blog.

Looking forward to see your creativity. Happy quilling!

Cheers!

IQCG # 45 - DT Inspiration

Dear Quillers,

This entire year we are going with different colour combinations as our challenge themes. This month's theme are these colour combinations.

And this is my take on this challenge theme. I have made an artwork on a canvas board. I have coloured the background with teal and pink acrylic colours. I have first stenciled the two butterflies with texture paste. After that I added two quilling braids, one blue and pink other teal and pink. After that I added pink, purple and white flowers to make a bunch surrounded by green quilled scrolls.

Just few more glimpses of my work while it was completed.

It was still looking like it's missing something and didn't quite looked finished. After thinking for long time what to do with it, I came up with a very simple idea. Wasn't sure how it will turn out to be, I took a chance and implemented that idea. Thank goodness it worked and the final product looks something like this.

You are most welcome to participate in our challenge. Click here to know more about the rules and to link your project to our challenge. It must have quilling in it. Dear Quillers,

This month's theme is dedicated to our motherland, beautiful and diverse India! so IQCG challenge # 39 is - Anything about India!

For this theme, I combined my love for quilling and delicate art of paper cutting. It is my first try at the same.

I have papercut a PEACOCK - national bird of India! and beneath it I have layared tight coils with colours of our tricoloured national flag!

Here is another look.

IQCG # 38 : DT Inspiration

Dear Quillers,

This month it is all about  textures and shine. So IQCG Challenge # 38 - Mixed Media. Create a mixed media project with essential part as quilling and an optional twist to add something shiny like glitter, sequins, pearl mist and so on!
For this challenge I have tried my hands on canvas board for the first time and I absolutely loved it. For the bling twist for the challenge, I took it a notch up by painting the background itself with acrylic pearl colours (silver, pearl blue and peach pearl) and then used pearl 3D liner for the embossed stencil effect.

With some excellent suggestions for my friends, I have coloured the center embellishment with silver acrylic paint too! Pearls on butterflies and the rhinestones in the flowers are adding to the shine quotient too! And of course, I have crimped quilled flowers and lovely vortex coils in this piece!

A closer look at the shiny background

It is time for you to show us what you come with working on this theme with a shiny twist. Don't forget to check challenge rules before submitting your entry here. Check your creation in the challenge for some lovely prizes for a winner and top creation. Please make sure you are NOT submitting  entry made prior to the challenge announcement.

Looking forward to see your creativity. Happy quilling!

Cheers!

On the outer border, I have made splashes of blue on white BG.

In the inner stencil, spray effect is done with white ink on blue areas
